I came
into real estate later in life. I was a full-time stay-at-home
mom with my children, Bree and Colt, until they were in their
teens. I was very involved in their school, was PTO President,
and traveled to all of their sporting events and competitions.
We lived on a ranch in the Texas Panhandle, 40 miles from the
nearest town and 3 miles from my nearest neighbor. It was not a
“hot” market for residential real estate.
After a 20-year marriage I had my first real world work
experience. I started in retail sales then worked as a
bookkeeper for an insurance office. Then I went to college to
work on a degree in business, graduating at age 46 from West
Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas.
During my stint in college, I did a tax audit at a large
corporation, then moved back to the insurance agency and worked
in sales and office management.
I married Don Tardy in 1996, and began dealing in real estate in
1998, when I joined his firm, The Tardy Company, as a Realtor.
Don had been in real estate for more than 25 years in Hereford,
Texas.
We moved to Round Rock in July 2000. I have loved Central Texas
ever since my mother moved to Austin in the early 1970s, and
jumped at the chance to live here.
I work in both Travis and Williamson counties because my clients
refer me to their friends throughout the area. I go wherever my
clients need me to go to find them the perfect home in the
location they want.
I’m still proud of my kids: Bree is an attorney in Houston and
Colt owns some land near Fort Worth. My husband is the kindest,
most caring, considerate and handsome man I know. My family is
the most important thing in my life — and my clients are like
family. That’s why I love to see them in a home that’s right for
them. |
