I
moved to Austin in 1996 from Houston, Texas to attend the
University of Texas. With a desire to pursue a career where I
directly impact the quality of people’s lives, I chose a path in
Social Work. After graduating and working in the field for four
years it was time to broaden my scope so I obtained a Master’s
degree in Business Administration from Texas State University.
My professional experience includes Coordinating a homeownership
program for a lending institution where I taught Homebuyer
Education classes, screened homebuyers for mortgage readiness,
managed a down payment assistance grant fund, counseled families
on credit improvement, and assisted individuals and families in
becoming homeowners. With this organization I also collaborated
with city leaders in a 42 county rural area within Central and
South Texas to bring affordable housing projects to their
communities.
Most recently, I was the Program Manager for student services at
an Austin-based non-profit high school serving at-risk youth. I
directed five programs, managed 15 staff, and controlled $2
million in funding. My greatest accomplishments at this
organization were the implementation of a Career and Technology
Education program where we made available academic tracks in
technology, business, and child development; the creation of a
College and Career program that lead to a 75% increase in youth
who attended further education; and the development of a program
to help at-risk youth develop entrepreneurial skills and create
small businesses.
My continued desire to directly impact the quality of people’s
lives is what brings me to the real estate business today. I
have repeatedly experienced the positive influences business
ownership and homeownership can have within families in building
confidence, wealth, and a stronger community. I want to be a
part of this kind of transformation.
I am most proud of my husband and son and in being part of The
Tardy Company family.
